"This was a textbook for a graduate engineering course I took at UCLA in 1954. It was a tough class, but a good one to get engineers up to speed on why partial differential equations were so useful at that time. We had no digital computers for numerical solutions. so classic solutions were often good enough rather than a tedious numerical solution by hand. The only other viable alternative was a very expensive
electrical analog computer.
This was a tough book for me, but well worth the effort. It is a good addition to your bookshelf at such a low price, but do make sure you also have something more modern.as a lot of newer work has been done."
