Over the past 20 years, Luca Bosurgi has developed a new way looking at the reasons and solutions for anxiety, depression and addiction. Instead of writing a dry text book explaining his work, he has put the information into story form about a young man named Liam, who is trying to find meaning in his life - he feels caught in an endless cycle where depression and alcohol are holding him back and creating despair. When he meets Luca he learns the cause of his miseries - the instinctual habit that has kept him from taking control over his life. Liam learns how codependency, the natural response that keeps children bonded to their parents, can become a crippling condition if is not terminated at puberty, preventing one to take charge over their life. As Liam discovers how to overcome his condition he claims sovereignty over his life ending the cycle of depression and addiction. This book, The Mind Shaman, is especially relevant for a modern society where so many young people are unable to reach emotional, financial and physical independence.

"I was interested in learning more about Cognitive Hypnosis and the book was free from Amazon that day, so I eagerly downloaded it. In my opinion, the book is at least 150 pages too long. The premise of following a spirit as it enters its next incarnation on the path to enlightenment holds a great deal of promise. However, the author chose to use the vehicle of a "poor little rich kid" whose father is incredibly wealthy, unavailable for long periods of time and then swoops in to salve all the perceived "problems" of a 12 year old boy with a trip in a jet to a Mediterranean island and his first sexual experience. It goes even further downhill from there! The protagonist refers incessantly to his "illness" but nothing is ever presented to indicate that he has any symptoms other than the usual trials and tribulations of any other human being - how is that an "illness"? We are supposed to identify with this teenager who has untold millions at his disposal, who tosses money around as if it were confetti, flies around the world to seek an audience with a "healer" in India and refers to his purported soulmate from childhood who is to eventually bear their child as " my girl" continually? So many poor choices by the author, continually shoved in our faces, "offended my sensibilities" and got in the way of relating to the message of the purported benefits of Cognitive OS Hypnotherapy. Yes, I understand it was a novel, a work of fiction, but this book so missed the mark on so many different levels.

I am convinced that all the 5 star ratings are fictitious or else planted under the influence of a post hypnotic suggestion."

  • I enjoyed this book and if it's real then it could be an amazing way to rid oneself of co-dependence. If, on the other hand, it's another guy that named a form of therapy after himself so he could market something "new" then... not so great. The problem is I'm not sure which one it is. Like other reviewers I admit that a 19 year old super rich kid was a bit rough to handle and Mr. Bosurgi himself is apparently super rich too. Maybe we should be glad because it might indicate that he's for real and not just after more money. I'm not exactly convinced though. I went to his website and although there are older "trainees" in the book, everyone on the website is very young. Maybe it's because I'm older but I want a therapist that has a bit of life experience, not some rich kid who throws lavish parties and spends tons of money on his beachfront home in CA. Another issue I have is that there are way too many lapses in sentence structure and spelling to make me think that this book wasn't published by anyone but the author himself. Unfortunately a clinical focused book ought to be more precise and better edited if the author wants me to believe it, but then again that's just me. Here are some of the examples of sentences/words
    1. Someone had a "crash" on someone - crush perhaps?
    2. Introduced to his friends, which owned - uh maybe who owned?
    3. Envisage - Envision?
    4. We went all....
    5. But it was lot to clear...
    6. Oh and "treats" which should have been threats - kind of undoes the meaning of the word doesn't it?

So... like I said.. in some ways I'm ready to pick up the phone and call but in others I'm ready to run the other way!!!

  • The Mind Shaman is an excellent way to present an ongoing problem that Mr. Bosurgi has discovered. He not only identifies the problem through a fictional story but he also shows that there is a way to resolve this problem. I do hope that through this book, he can help to show adolescent codependency as a major problem in our society and can establish treatment centers throughout the world. I was able to identify with a lot of what was brought out in the book. I can't afford to go to California for treatment. However, there is much in the book that can help to resolve some of the problems associated with this codependency. I highly recommend this book.
  • I find The Mind Shaman interesting as it deals with daily parts of a persons life that sufffers from mental illness. There are few books out there that writes about it in a story rather than alot of data that leads noware. This author knows how to write to keep your interest. I'm enjoying the book and learning alot.
  • I actually stumbled upon this book quite by accident. I was checking out some freebies and I found this. And boy I was glad I got this one.

The blurb interested me. The Bosurgi Syndrome? Codependency? I was interested. I wanted to read what this was above.

The book is told from the POV of Liam, a child born with the Bosurgi syndrome and his journey through life. He faces a true test when the Syndrome gets the better of him. But just in time, he finds Luca, the man behind formulating the Bosurgi syndrome.

I've often believed that Modern Medicine was somehow missing the point. Inspite of having advanced by leaps and bounds in medicine, our brain, the mind, our consciousness and sub consciousness were mysteries. We could never work out why things happened the way they did or explore the true potential of our minds.

This was something Luca considered at depth. The fact that the mind has problems of its own and that it was an independent entity, separate from the brain or logic.

His methods seem very logical and his research precise. I got very excited when I read about how he went about healing his patients and I am very interested in seeing the healing happen.

The book covered not only Liam's healing but also his transition into joining Luca and that is when Luca explained concepts in greater detail and sort of took in case studies for the reader to see and diagnose the Bosurgi Syndrome.

I do wish people especially doctors focused more on the mind and it's powers. This book like Luca's research is Experimental.

I hope he helps many people with his work!! A great read
